Mouthwear Red Bank

Protect Your Oral Health and Comfort

At the core of neuromuscular dentistry is the idea that the ideal jaw alignment can have a significant impact on a patient’s oral health and total body wellness. Dr. Michael Bixby is an experienced cosmetic and restorative dentist who subscribes to the science of neuromuscular dentistry and focuses all of his dental treatments on helping the muscles, bone, and joints of the mouth work together. This approach has far-reaching effects and has even been known to improve overall body function, as is evidenced by the revolutionary PX3 Mouthwear, offered at Dr. Bixby’s Red Bank dental practice. By identifying the ideal bite, Dr. Bixby can enhance a patient’s posture, balance, flexibility, and strength. If you’d like more information about the PX3 Mouthwear contact Dr. Bixby’s New Jersey dental practice, serving all Monmouth County areas.

What is the PX3 Mouthwear?

The PX3 Mouthwear is an oral appliance designed for both contact and non-contact sports. Unlike traditional mouthwear which are “one-size-fits-all,” the PX3 Mouthwear is a custom-fitted appliance that allows for optimal function and comfort. The PX3 Mouthwear was born out of the philosophy of neuromuscular dentistry, which places a strong emphasis on how the structures of the mouth relate to and affect one another. The nature of its design both protects the mouth from traumatic injury and simultaneously improves the function and position of the jaw.

Dr. Bixby is proud to be one of only three New Jersey dentists to offer this sophisticated mouthwear. The PX3 Mouthwear has a proven track record and is the choice mouth guard of some of the world’s most elite athletes, including Ladainian Tomlinson, Robinson Cano, and Bode Miller. It is believed that by alleviating muscle tension in the jaw, the PX3 Mouthwear enables the rest of the body to function efficiently and make better use of muscle strength. When the bite is relaxed, the athlete is more athletically inclined, in terms of flexibility, strength, and balance.

Receiving Your PX3 Mouthwear

The process for receiving the PX3 Mouthwear is a highly-individualized procedure, in which Dr. Bixby will thoroughly analyze the muscles, bone structure, and joints of the mouth. Dr. Bixby and his staff understand the busy schedules of amateur and professional athletes, and offer private, on-site fittings for individuals and teams. Regardless of whether patients are fitted for mouthwear in our dental office or in the comfort of their own environment, the process takes about 90 minutes. Dr. Bixby will take an impression and send it to a certified lab where the mouthwear is created (typically within two weeks). Once the mouthwear has been delivered and adjusted (which is rarely necessary), patients can enjoy the many health and performance-enhancing benefits of the appliance for years to come.
