Meet the Team

When it comes to health and appearance, you shouldn’t trust your smile to just anyone. You should choose your dentist based on training, experience and the most advanced resources available.

Our dentists, Drs. John and Michael Bixby, are highly trained in cosmetic and comprehensive dental care. And our team strives to make sure you feel at home during your visit.

Dr John K Bixby, DMD FAGD

With a bachelor's degree in biology from St. Anselm College and a master's in chemistry from the University of New Hampshire, Dr. Bixby earned his doctor of dental medicine degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in 1974. He then started his own private practice.

In 1976, he purchased a practice in Atlantic Highlands and moved its location to the historic district. He opened its doors and began offering high quality, comprehensive dentistry in a welcoming, relaxing and caring environment and hasn't stopped since. His son, Michael, has joined him in practice.

Dedicated to offering his patients the benefits of advanced dentistry, Dr. Bixby is committed to continuing education. Over the past 30 years, he has completed many courses in various aspects of general dentistry and temporomandibular joint dysfunction. He is also a graduate of the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies, the world-renowned educational center for aesthetic and neuromuscular dentistry. He is certified in laser dentistry, is a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry and a Diplomat in the American Society of Forensic Dentists. Dr. Bixby served as the Director of the Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunctions Clinic of the General Dentistry Residency Program at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, NJ for 21 years. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the New Jersey Dental Association and the Monmouth/Ocean Dental Society.

In his free time, Dr. Bixby enjoys travel, golf woodworking and family activities. He and his wife, Michelle, are the parents of four – son, Dr. Michael Bixby, daughter, Dr. Elyse Bixby and twin sons, Christian and Adam. He also is the proud grandfather of Matthew, Erin and Chloe.

Dr Michael J Bixby, DMD FAGD

Dr. Michael Bixby graduated from Rutgers University with a bachelor's degree in biology and earned his dental degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Bringing his passion for technology and quality dentistry, he joined his father in practice in 1998.

Never complacent in his pursuit of excellence, Dr. Bixby sought post-doctorate training in advanced dentistry. To date he has attended the prestigious Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies, the world-renowned educational center for aesthetic and neuromuscular dentistry. He has also completed courses at the Creating Restorative Excellence Center for Advanced Dental Learning and is certified in laser dentistry.

Through his vast educational experience, Dr. Bixby has realized that cosmetic dentistry is more than designing an attractive smile; it’s comprehensive dentistry. The advanced cosmetic dentistry he practices takes into consideration the teeth, bones, gums and bite in relation to the rest of the body. This approach allows Dr. Bixby to resolve patients’ dental needs in an attractive and enduring manner.

Dr. Bixby is a member of the American Dental Association, the New Jersey Dental Association, a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry, Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation and the Jersey Coast Dental Forum. Dr. Bixby is one of a few certified dentists, "World-wide", for the Pure Power Mouthguard

When not in the office, Dr. Bixby enjoys golf, skiing and just being outdoors. He and his wife, Sue, have two children, Matthew and Erin.

Team Members

Rosemary, RDH - Hygienist

Rosemary C Rosie graduated as a Dental Hygienist from Middlesex County College in 2002, and has been working in the dental field since. Rosie joined the Atlantic Center team in early 2006. As part of the Dental Team she received on site training including education from Las Vegas Institute, JP Consultants, and Paragon Management. Rosie continues to further her education by taking courses with a main concentration on implementation of soft tissue management.

Rosie enjoys administering preventative dental health services while using the function of state of the art equipment including: computerized dentistry, digital radiography, and intraoral cameras used during routine practice. Rosie’s main focus is to assure her patient’s optimal health by aiding in the diagnosis of various oral-facial diseases including decay, gingivitis, and periodontal disease and the restoration of health thereafter.

Doreen - Office Manager

Doreen B Doreen joined our team in 2005 as our Patient Care Coordinator. She has an extensive background in the Hospitality Industry. Her expertise has complimented our teams continuing endeavor of providing our guests with exceptional personalized service. Doreen works directly with our Guests, Doctors and Hygienists planning each individual course of treatment. She also enjoys being a part of our NJ Makeover team. Most likely, she will be the friendly voice you hear when you call our office.

She is a graduate of Lynn University in Boca Raton, Fla. and has completed several post graduate courses and seminars including The Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies.

Doreen and her husband Tom, have two beautiful daughters.

Robin - CDA, RDA - Treatment Coordinator

Robin G A 1994 graduate of Dental Assisting services, Robin came to the Atlantic Center for Advanced Dentistry in 2001. A certified dental assistant and a registered dental assistant, she works alongside Drs. Bixby in the treatment of patients.

A proponent of continuing education, Robin has completed numerous courses from a variety of postgraduate educational centers, including LVI, Pride, Paragon and JP Consulting. In fact, one of the reasons she so enjoys being part of this team is their dedication to constant learning and implementing state-of-the-art equipment. She also values the strong relationships she has built with her patients and fellow team members.

Robin and her husband, Christian are the proud parents of a son and a daughter.

Kara - Treatment Coordinator

Kara B A graduate of Brookdale Community College’s Dental Assisting Program, Kara joined Atlantic Center for Advanced Dentistry in 2001. She assists both Drs. Bixby with patient care and procedures. She finds it very rewarding to be a part of a team that provides patients with first-class treatment in a caring environment.

Dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care, Kara has completed advanced training at LVI, including the courses Dynamic Team Concepts and Evolutionary Hygiene and several courses with JP Consultants and Paragon Management.

Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies

Located in Las Vegas, Nevada, the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies (LVI), is the world's premier post-graduate dental teaching center. Practicing dentists come to LVI to advance their education, knowledge and expertise. LVI also offers curriculum for the entire dental team, including dental assistants, hygienists and patient coordinators.

Founded in 1995, LVI was established to educate, guide and support dentists in the delivery of the most advanced, patient-based care possible. Dentists from all over the world come to LVI to further their educational training and to master the most current dental procedures and technologies. LVI provides dentists with expert instruction; intensive, hands-on clinical training, and state-of-the-art facilities and technology.
