Cavities

Family DentistryNobody wants to hear that they have a cavity when visiting the dentist, but it’s important to have cavities repaired before they develop into more serious problems.

Because a cavity is an area where the tooth has stated to decay, Drs. Bixby take special consideration to restore teeth in a conservative manner, saving as much of the natural tooth as possible.

Regardless of the patient’s age, cavities are filled with strong, attractive and safe materials, including porcelain inlays and onlays and composite resin fillings.

You and your children can avoid the development of cavities by using the following tips:

  • Brush your teeth at least twice a day
  • Brush up and down in a circular motion
  • Gently brush your gums to keep them healthy
  • Floss your teeth once a day to remove plaque
  • Limit sweets and sugary drinks, like soda
  • See your dentist twice a year for checkups
